Mr Mum Day 3
Well, the extra layers of clothing on Luc are working a treat. Another 8am wake up time so to say I’m stoked would be a complete understatement.
As great as last night was, on the way home from Appleton I realised I had lost my cell phone. It was nowhere to be seen or heard. This meant that our morning started with another trip down to Wild Air to see if it was there amongst all of the amusements somewhere. I wasn’t looking forward to this I must say. As it turned out, 5 minutes before we got there it was found by a mother and handed in at the desk. How lucky was that? As most know when you lose your phone, it’s not the hardware you worry about, it’s the numbers inside. Thankfully I had them all back again.
Today was a real nothing day thanks to having the boys out so late last night (wait until Kelly finds out #1). Plus with the playoff game tomorrow and the Pep Rally tonight (wait until Kelly finds out #2) there was no need to go to any extraordinary lengths to keep them entertained.
I did an interview with a radio station in Seattle this afternoon. How our story is picked up all over the country amazes me still. We had an email from Vegas last night saying we’d made the sports pages down there! That’s crazy too! Anyway, despite being a little apprehensive, the Seattle boys were very good to me. We spoke about our story, my whole “live the life you want” philosophy and only at the end did they try and tell me how they were going to whoop us tomorrow.....We’ll see.
Indulge me please while I send a little thank you to Nancy for coming over and watching the boys while I was on the phone. Thanks Nancy.
As the evening fell I started organising the boys for our trip to Lambeau for the Pep Rally. My plans weren’t to stay long as I knew it’d be cold, the music loud and the environment not totally conducive to a single dad with 2 babies and a stroller. Plus I was ready for them not being at all interested in being there.
After layering them like it was the Antarctic we were going to we jumped in the car and made our way there. The atmosphere was awesome. The band was great. The Packers Organisation sure knows how to treat their fans. As fate would have it we happened across SpongeBob CheesePants again and I couldn’t get the camera to a complete stranger quick enough to snap Ben and I beside him.
For the most part, as I expected, it was freezing cold and very wet. Plus there were some 15,000 people there apparently so we didn’t stay much longer than 45 minutes. We were there long enough to get some pics with the boys in what was their first unescorted trip the actual stadium.
I know my emotions will well over the weekend with everything we have in store. They started tonight as I looked at my boys, here in the stadium with me, amongst the fruit of Packer Backers. I couldn’t believe it. Ben was gorgeous when he said, referring to what everybody was wearing “Look Daddy, everybody is Grin Bay Pakuss”. I tried my best to write it as he says it.
He was even more gorgeous when he asked, just 2 minutes later, if “we can go home now”. I looked down at Luc who had so many layers on he hadn’t moved for 40 minutes and decided it was time to go.
We made it home, I put the boys in bed and went outside to watch the 830 fireworks from a distance. It was a special night.
I waited up for the love of all of our lives to get home from Vegas tonight which she did; albeit it after midnight and an hour later than expected. Is there anything worse than watching each minute tick as you wait for the lights to turn into your driveway? I’m nervous as I recall it now even though she’s home safe and sound with us already.
My days as a fulltime Mr Mum are over and whilst I loved every minute of it, I’m happy to have my partner in crime back. Our boys are the best, Kelly is the best. Now all I have to worry about is the biggest game of NFL football I have experienced in my life so far.
