Mr Mum Day 2
As I alluded to in my last post, Kelly’s sleep won out in the end. The update out of Vegas this morning was that after the 4am pack, flights and 9 hour travel time, the prospect of shutting her eyes for 10 hours to recuperate was just what the doctor ordered.
I may have mentioned this before but here in our apartment we have one bedroom that is colder than the other and it just happens to be the one Luc sleeps in. That’s quite a funny thought for us by the way. Usually at this time of year it’s one bedroom that’s hotter than the other for us, so learning to deal with the opposite has taken some getting used to.
Sick of Luc waking at 530 each morning, like he has for the last few weeks, I thought I’d take the problem into my own hands and try something a little different. Last night I put so many layers of clothing on him I don’t think he had the physical capacity to rollover let alone wake up realising he was cold. Not sure what effect it might have I closed my eyes and hoped for the best. By 830 this morning he was still asleep and I was wondering if in fact I had taken things too far. I hadn’t. He woke up not long after very warm, very happy and very full of smiles. Lesson 56 – How to deal with cold Wisconsin nights, had finally been answered. Here’s hoping we can do the same for the rest of the sleeps we have remaining.
We kicked off our morning with story time at Barnes and Noble (Luc pictured above). That lasted all of about 3 minutes when Ben remembered they have a Thomas train set there and decided to make his own way over. After an hour or so of more book related entertainment, coffee and sugar cookies we were back home for lunch and an afternoon sleep.
This afternoon, like Tuesday, we were off to Appleton so that Ben could play with Amy and Jamie’s little ones. That gave Jamie and I a chance to head down to The Clubhouse to play a round a simulated golf and get a pic in front of the Vince Lombardi Steakhouse sign. We played, had a couple of beers, some dinner and chatted about life and what makes a person tick. It was good fun. I’m not sure about simulated golf though. It sure was “simulating” a whole lot of slices my way.
From there we picked Amy and the boys up, yes, all 5 of them (under 5) and headed to a place called Wild Air. It’s an inflatable theme park full of jumping castle type amusements. Ben totally loved it. There was a huge slide there that he could not get enough of (yes that dot coming down the slide below is him). That is definitely one place we’ll get to again when the weather starts getting back to the way it should be.
At that we were off home. Luc was asleep before we left the car park but Ben, courtesy of the iPod, stayed awake the whole way. Thankyou SpongeBob, why’d you have to go and be so entertaining? I too was beat by the time we got there and fell asleep on the floor whilst doing my best to watch Inside the NFL. I spoke with Kel briefly who said she was loving the new sights and the experiences in Sin City. Today was a good day for all.
