Mr Mum Day 1
Kelly set off this morning at 430, well before the boys and I had even considered waking. Sure enough though Luc was up not long after so my 3 days as Mr Mum were getting a very early start. I wished Kel a Happy Birthday before she left and with that she was off to one of the most exciting places on the planet.
At the risk of sounding boring the boys and I did very little for the first 6 hours of the day. Truth be known I knew from watching Kelly that preparing their bags and dressing them in all of their winter garb is such a task that it makes going out, even for the littlest things, a chore in itself. Aware that we couldn’t just sit inside and play on the computer all day though I took the plunge and gave it my best shot.
I must say I am very lucky that the weather is the way that it is. Today you can see the beautiful green grass everywhere you go, the roads are dry and there isn’t a hint of rain or snow on the horizon. If I had to choose the sort of Wisconsin weather to take them out in, this would certainly be it.
Our little excursion took us to the Ashwaubenon Library. It’s been a while since we went to the library and that was always the downtown one so it was nice to see the inside of another. For the most part Ben went one way and Luc went the other so trying to remain low key inside an area that is expected to be such was difficult. I must pay respect to all the Mothers out there that do this with 3 and 1 year olds every day. It’s certainly not the easiest job in the world is it?
We had a play, did some puzzles and read as many books as we could before getting home for an early night. Ben and Luc weren’t the only ones that needed their rest after the excitement of our first Mummy-less day. (And to think we’ve got 2 more to go!)
The Vegas update as of 7pm this evening was that the girls arrived safely and Kel was not far from heading to bed herself. I find it funny, of all of the places in the world to be, with all of the great things to see and do, Kel had to ask herself what was better. The prospect of experiencing a new life for the first night she was there or getting a good, kid free night’s sleep for the first time in 5 months? I’m, guessing that the sleep will win out. Only time will tell.
