Hall of Fame

I had been waiting quite some time to get to the Hall of Fame and today was the day. I didn’t want to go while it was nice out so I deliberately waited this long into the season. Once I knew Marc was coming over I figured I’d wait for him and we could take a look together.

We hung out at home while Kelly was out planning Ben’s birthday party for the weekend. There’s always so much to do and so little time. Once she got back we were off.

Whilst Marc is a football fan he’s not necessarily the biggest Packers fan. Sure he’s keen, he’s just not as into them, or any other team come to think of it, as I am. When you’re at a place like the Hall of Fame having a non-fanatical friend is a good thing. It means you have a photographer handy every step of the way.

8 or so years ago I was lucky enough to come to Wisconsin with work and stay in Green Lake for 2 nights. (I used to sell Speed Queen Washing machines.) We were given one of the afternoons off and the Director of our company was taking everyone down to the outlet malls to spend some of their hard earned.

Knowing I was a Packers fan he asked if I’d like to take a trip to Green Bay instead of hitting the shops. Of course I obliged. After the bus had dropped everyone off in Oshkosh the driver and I made our way to the old Lambeau Field. All in all I had three hours, including travel time to see what I could. This gave me an hour or so to tour the then Hall of Fame before making my way back.

Haven’t things changed a little since then?

I really enjoyed the Hall today. The layout was great and seeing all of the history was awesome. As I’ve said before, not growing up here I only know about the team the things that I have read. Seeing it all laid out, chronologically, the way it is was just great.

I feel like I’ve done this alot lately but here are some of the pics from today:

Curly Lambeau

Vince Lombardi

The Ice Bowl re-enactment

Riding our bikes to training. The only professional football team in the country to adopt such a community based initiative

Fan memories from the last 80 years

Superbowl XXXI - Packers 35, Patriots 21 (The same result this year would be nice)

Brett Favre - 2007 Sports Illustrated Sportsman of the Year. How hard was that magazine to get?

Saving the best for last. 3 x Lombardi trophies for Superbowls I, II and XXXI

I could have loaded 30 more photos but these are the pic of the bunch. Having said that i’ll be there again before i go. I could have stayed there all day as it was.
