Boxing Day - GB Style
Here in Green Bay today, we did what most did. Headed straight down to the Mall to see what sort of bargains we could find. Truth be known I was actually looking for Christmas ornaments in a bid to reflect Tom and Kathy’s tree from last night when we get home. I still can’t get those images out of my head. The crowds weren’t as bad as I had expected and I found some great buys that’ll help our tree aspirations very nicely.
This was also Marc’s big chance to get some shopping done before he leaves for New York after the game on Sunday so we were out for quite a while. About a dozen Packer, Badger, Brewer and Bucks hats later we were on our way. I sure hope his friends are into Wisconsin sporting teams the way he hopes.
We went back to pick up Kelly and the boys after that and made our way to Lambeau for some lunch at Curly’s and a play in the amusement centre. Here we were able to introduce Marc to the pleasures of Leinenkugels, fried cheese curds and burgers American style. Add to that a trip to the Pro-Shop to stock up on warm clothes for the game and his first trip to Lambeau was complete.
I was hoping to get Marc to some of the TV shows that are filmed throughout the week and as luck would have it “Inside the Huddle” with Donald Driver was being filmed tonight courtesy of the holiday yesterday. Coincidentally I was asked to appear on the show again as we were making plans to attend as audience members so it all worked out well in the end.
DD was running late thanks to being held back at practice after the big loss in Chicago so I had my chance to chat with Drew Smith on centre stage for a minute which was good fun. An hour or so after the show had been taped Donald arrived and we were able to meet up with him for a photograph. Marc was also able to have a ball signed as an everlasting souvenir of his trip to Green Bay to see the Packers play.
