Busy Day and Night
Like Kelly and I, Marco had never seen snow before in his life until arriving here in sunny Green Bay. You know what that means don’t you? That’s right, snowman time. Sure there was a little in Chicago but nothing like it is here.
We went out last night so that he could get his first taste of a real snowfall and it was great fun.
This morning when he saw what had become of the fall he exclaimed “Look at it man, everything’s white” It certainly sounded like Déjàvu to me. At that we dressed Ben up in his outdoor garb, grabbed the shovel, the sled and went outside to frolic like kids again. Man i love the snow but getting kids ready to go out in it sure does take a long time.
Our attempts at building a snowman were so futile I’m saving ourselves the embarrassment of posting a picture of it. If you’d like to use your imagination picture a big ball of snow on the ground and nothing else. That’s right, we couldn’t get the second ball to sit on the first one without it falling to pieces.
I later learned, from a 10 year old I might add (thanks Tyler), that this snow wasn’t right for packing so there was no need for us to feel too bad about our failure. I think he was just being nice to save our egos a little.
We were lucky, despite the fact that she was working tomorrow, that Tezza offered to come over and watch the boys for us so that the 3 of us could go out and live it up a little like the good ol’ days. We went straight to Anduzzi’s for a drink to chat about times gone past. You know when you haven’t seen someone for a while and when you do there’s so much to catch up on? It was just like that.
After our appetiser we were off to Brett’s Steakhouse. Kelly and I had been there once already, a hot date as it were so I didn’t mention too much about it. Tonight was alot of fun. Marc was happy to be out on the town and Kelly and I, despite loving our boys like nothing else, were glad to get out like adults and enjoy a meal without crayons, spilt milk and missing dummies (pacifiers). Plus, we’ve a SpongeBob bash planned for Ben’s birthday tomorrow so it was nice to get out after a week’s worth of planning.
