Ben’s 3rd Birthday Party

arrived, after much anticipation i must say. The only thing we had to worry about this morning was how sane we would be by 230 this afternoon after being questioned 500 times whether his party was starting yet. (It was totally gorgeous by the way.) It’s tough having a birthday so close to Christmas, there are just so many other things to do. Having said that, with his actual birthday on Monday, Christmas on Tuesday and a party on Saturday, what kid wouldn’t like to have the week that he’s just had?

We started the day with a quick drink to get things going. Marc had a cranberry juice, Kelly and I had coffee, Luc some milk and Ben a cup of snow, yes, of the uncoloured variety. He thought this was the greatest thing ever, it kept him entertained for ages. Just the time we needed to start the preparations.

With preparations complete, the table set and Ben dressed in his Birthday bests our guests started arriving. By the time they had all shown up Ben went from being very excited to a little overwhelmed. All the poor thing wanted to do was sit on his own and play his video game in the end.

Thankfully that lasted about 3 minutes when he realised all of the other boys and girls where in his bedroom playing with his toys.

SpongeBob SquarePants (SB) was without doubt the theme of the day. We don’t get alot of SB back home but since being here he has gone totally crazy for him. We had the balloons, the table settings, the toys, books and of course the cake. What 3rd birthday celebration would complete without a character cake?

The party went well past bath time and into the dark which Ben thought was pretty special. Normally, once the sun goes down it’s quiet time until bed. Still having friends to play with after the sun had gone down sent him a little crazy but it was in a good way so that’s all that counts. Plus, with SpongeBob toys from here till tomorrow there was plenty to keep he and friends entertained.

Kel was ready to take it easy once the night was over and did so with her feet up. I think we were both relieved that the festive weekend was finally over and that for the remaining 6 weeks we’ve nothing major to plan. Marc and I watched the Patriots go 16 - 0 for the first time in history and we all retired reasonably early.
