WAPL and New Friends

I was up at 6 this morning to be in Appleton to meet Rick and Len at 105.7 WAPL. The attention we have received as I keep saying, is phonenomenal. More so because we haven’t looked for it and so many people are into our story. I must say, I’m a little uncomfortable about the entries for this week because, from where I’m sitting, it’s all “We did this and we did that and we met so and so”. I’ve had a hard time trying to decide whether I post it at all but it’s what we’re doing. If I didn’t there wouldn’t be much to write about.

Anyway, that was a ton of fun also. For those who didn’t hear it, listeners were asked to call in and suggest things that we could all do in Green Bay while we were here. Unfortunately, most of them would have ended up with the 4 of us behind bars so drunk that we wouldn’t have even known we were there.

Check the media page for a link to Rick and Len’s website. They have done a really cool Australia to Wisconsin comparison chart. Follow that link and look for the kangaroos just like these pnes pictured here. I thought it was funny and I don’t understand half of what they have said so you should find it hilarious. Also, tune in each Monday for a wrap-up with the boys after the game. We’ll go through the travel, accommodation, game, kids etc for a few minutes. It should be good fun.

On a more normal level, we managed to get to the park today so we could all stretch our legs and enjoy the fresh air. The grass, the trees and the swing set in particular were all very much enjoyed by the end of our stay. Also, it will please those of you that have commented on our lack of warm clothing that we went shopping for warm, winter, Wisconsin styled threads this afternoon. How was that for a good use of alliteration? What with the drop in temps from last week to this week we have started to feel the cold. Stop laughing at us, it’s true. We certainly haven’t covered all bases but, thanks to my wonderful wife, we have at least made a start.

This evening we met with a new friend Judy and her daughter Tammy. This was really nice. We received a gift that belonged to Judy’s late husband, a Superbowl XXXI cap from the 1996 season. It wasn’t that the cap was something I’d always wanted to add to my collection but the fact that it belonged to somebody, no longer with us, who was every bit the Packers fan that I am. From a sentimental point of view this has easily been the most significant few hours of our trip so far. It was unfortunate only for the fact that the boys, in particular Ben, are so tired of being couped up that they went a little, nay alot crazy. If I haven’t said already and I know I have, Kelly has been so great on this trip and looking after the boys in this sort of state is something I cannot appreciate enough.
