Thanksgiving 4/4 Dinner
Dinner Time
Whilst pining to be at the stadium in Detroit the true benefit of being home really hit once the game had finished. Kelly, the boys and I were all in the same room as the whistle blew. All without the delay of transfers, flights or anything else that would normally get in the way. Our friends were already enjoying themselves upstairs and lunch was all but served in the Dining room.
We were very lucky to have such traditional Thanksgiving treats as turkey, ham, 3 types of cranberry sauce, cranberry bread and pumpkin pie. We were even luckier with all of the other foods we had to complete our meal. We were even introduced to Leinenkugels for the first time, berry flavour in fact. Now there’s a fancy tasting beer. This honestly felt like something straight out of the movies.
Thanksgiving as we knew it, was lavish, over the top and always so fancy on the television shows that happened to have it written into their storylines. Thanksgiving as we now know it, is every bit the same.
Kelly was thankful for the friendships we have made since being here, the health of our two little boys and for the loving families we have back at home who we knew would have loved spending this day the way that we were.
I, whilst agreeing with everything Kelly had to say was thankful for her and the willingness she had shown in allowing us to be here in the first place. Nothing that we have learned, experienced or enjoyed here, least of all football, would have been possible if not for her spirit and sense of adventure in taking this plunge in the first place. I left alot of things back home that I was happy to leave. Kelly left alot that she wasn’t sure she could do without.
We had a great day today, another one that we will remember forever. A traditional vacation in a foreign location with the wonders of family, friends and snow filled yards to boot. And the Packers won. You know, I still can’t believe we’re here for the most part. Days like today make it seem even more unreal.
Again, Kelly the boys and I wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving and a happy and safe holiday season ahead.
