At the bookstore yesterday we learned that they in fact have a weekly “Storytime” session at 10am each Thursday for little ones like ours. Our plans for today were to take it easy pending the road trip this weekend but there’s always time for a good book and a play with other kids Ben and Luc’s age.

Not only did Ben enjoy himself, he was able to make a Reindeer from a paper cup that he was very proud of I must say.

Whilst Kelly and Ben were gone I started putting together an entry on the area in Sydney that we’re from because alot of people ask. Of course nobody has ever heard of the area so I thought what better way to go about it? I won’t say too much here because it’s a work in progress but, whilst researching for pics and weblinks it got my mind racing.

Are we really at Week 15 of the football season already? I know we are but I just can’t believe it. Teams have clinched playoff births, home field advantage is being talked about and Superbowl predictions are a dime a dozen.

It wasn’t supposed to be this way. It wasn’t supposed to go so quickly. It feels like we’ve only been here a week. We’ve got so many things to do while we’re here still, so many more things to see.

I was both upset and inspired by this at the same time. (I’m generally a “the glass is half full kind of guy” if you know what that means.) One of the things I had wanted to do since the big plough of last week was turn the massive mound of snow underneath our window into a really cool slide for the kids (and me). I got out there in my Ugg boots, Packers jacket and gloves to give it my best shot.

Turns out snow doesn’t stay snow when it’s compacted the way that this is. I figured I’d take my shovel out there, drag it down the side of the mound and fashion ourselves a great little ramp. The exercise, at most, was only going to take me a few minutes or so. Ha! Fact is the whole thing has turned to ice underneath and the only fashioning I could have hoped for would have needed a blowtorch and an ice pick. Thanks everyone, you could have told me. (Or is just accepted that everyone knows that already?) Either way, where’s Sharon Stone when you need her?

Anyway my big idea was short lived unfortunately. Grand plans of breaking the world snow speed record were replaced with an addition to the “100 craziest things that Aussie guy has said or tried to do with snow” list.

There is somewhat of a ramp at least so that’ll have to do for now (It kind of goes from top right of the picture to bottom left). Great ramp or not we’re still having fun and that’s the most important thing at least.

Tomorrow we’ll do some more Christmas shopping, hopefully pick up a tree and the Packers Fan Hall of Fame winner is announced. Fingers still crossed for that one.
