Brett and Deanna Favre

I mentioned in my pre-game post that a friend of mine, with his buddies, was partying at the Steakhouse before the game and I was lucky enough to join them. The call I made, after we had started on our way home, was to him to see if he was still out on the town. Owning the infamous “Packer Limo” I must admit I kind of figured he would be.

We met up with him and whilst Nancy and I were enjoying a celebratory Pepsi each, we still couldn’t believe the sort of night we had just had.

Over the next few minutes though one thing led to another and we ended up quite literally, in the right place at the right time. We met someone there in the bar area (not sure if it was my Aussie hat or accent that started us talking) who knew someone, who knew someone and before we knew it we were a table away from Brett and Deanna as they had some dinner together.

Unsure of how we had gone from 100 yards on the way home to here some 15 minutes later, we sat and chatted some more about the game, the snow, the atmosphere and anything “Packer” that we could. Not long after that, once my accent was picked up, I was asked if I’d like meet them. I considered saying no so that they could.....yeah right. I was up like a flash.

I know exactly how lucky I was to be in that position so I don’t want to spend the next 4 paragraphs recalling our conversation word for word. I don’t think it would be right. I will say though that both Brett and Deanna are two of the loveliest, kind hearted people I have met. They smiled, offered me a seat, made me feel more welcome than I could have imagined and we chatted for a little on different things that have happened over the last 12 months.

It was like we had met 100 times before and this was just another.

Not wanting to outstay my welcome Nancy and I offered our thanks and asked for a couple of pics as attached. I’m not normally the sort of guy that would do that but heck, if not tonight then when? As we smiled and made our way back to our table I wondered to Nancy, “Do you think they know that they’re Brett and Deanna Favre?”

A little bewildered by the whole 10 hour experience we, for the second time, commenced our walk home. This time though we made it all the way. It was getting late after all and I had a whole night of not being able to sleep ahead of me.

What a day. What a game. Go Giants (Sunday 13th Jan. only).
