Alot to Plan For

So yesterday I said the snow was almost gone. Today it is as good as gone completely. All but the piles left by Mr Plough that is but I’m not counting them. On a family note Kelly is feeling a whole lot better too so today was much nicer than the last two.

In sticking with the weather theme for one more paragraph, another first happened today. It rained! Now I’m sure this must have happened already but both Kelly and I sure can’t remember it. As the water started to fall we honestly tried to figure out whether we had seen rain at all since being here. We’ve seen plenty of rain in our lives by the way, when we’re not in drought Sydney can get some wicked storms. The surprise was that it seems so scarce around here. Maybe it’s because the snow has been so prevalent?

I haven’t mentioned it before because, as you should know by now, I don’t like to talk about things until they happen but Kelly and Tari are off to Vegas this Wednesday. With all of the road trips I’ve been on this season it was only fair that Kel got to go somewhere out of this world so as a belated birthday present, this was it. With that in mind Kel was off running some errands this afternoon with Ben while I stayed home and watched Luc sleep.

Tari came around this evening to talk trip and bring a decent sized “carry-on” bag for my lovely wife to use. Once here she offered to watch the boys for us so that we could get away for an hour or two before they get away for 3 days later in the week. We took to this offer like a bull takes to a red flag. It’s always fun to get away for a bit.

Not quite sure where to go as the chance had only just presented itself we decided very quickly on the Tundra Lodge. We’d been there just once when the Legends of Lambeau Parade was on and always said we’d get there again. Wouldn’t you know it, we chose to go on the only night their restaurant is closed. We did enjoy a drink together though which, as always, was great fun.

Thinking of an alternative place to eat Kelly suggested The Bar on Holmgren knowing full well the Donald Driver show was being filmed there. Not knowing that she knew, I suggested somewhere else; afraid that if we got there and she saw what was happening I’d be in all sorts of trouble. Turns out she told me that she knew about the show and thought I might like to see it so that’s where we ended up. We didn’t know the BCS title game was being played though and that the televisions would be loud enough for those in Milwaukee to hear but we got over it.

With regards to College Football now that I’ve mentioned it, what the heck is the ranking system all about? To me, one who likes football at any age or level, the whole “system” is a big turn-off. Schools that are allowed to choose their own opponents, some playing much weaker schedules than others, undefeated teams being ranked lower than some with 2 losses...The whole thing is weird.

Anyway, whilst at dinner we met a lovely lady, Karen, who was very hospitable despite us never having met before. After buying us a drink each we went over and chatted for a little while about life, Green Bay and of the course the Packers. A conversation that we have had many times before but a very enjoyable one all the same. Karen, who left before we did, left us with a parting gift that we didn’t know about until it came time for us to leave. As such we never did get the chance to say thanks. Karen, in hopes that you’ll actually see this, thank you. You’re hospitality was very kind and both Kelly and I are very appreciative.

At that and afraid we had already overstayed our welcome we got back to 2 sleeping little boys and one very good friend that had gone out of her way to help us again. Thanks Tari.
