Where Have We Been?
Ok. Where do I start? It’s Tuesday morning and I haven’t posted since last Friday. We’ve done a ton of things since, I know we have. With the speed our lives are running at the moment though, I’m having trouble recalling it all. Thank goodness for our digital diary, I mean camera and its ability to freeze moments in time. We’d have been totally lost without it.
We spent most of Saturday and Sunday sorting our apartment out. It’s amazing the things you can accumulate in such a short period of time. Going through what needs to stay here, be returned to their rightful owners and gifted to charity is a whole lot tougher than you might think. We even did things like keep envelopes that were sent to us with our “Green Bay” address on it. How cool will it be to look back on that one day?
Even Ben got in on the action when it came time to do the dishes.
We made what may just be my last trip to Copps and enjoyed lunch at Jimmy Johns, proud sponsor of the Green Bay Packers. It was as delicious as it was big. Why did we wait until now to try this place for the first time? That was Saturday. On Sunday we tried Buffalo Wild Wings. I know, we’re eating alot of different things lately. Primarily we’re doing it just to say we’ve given it a go. Plus, Kelly cooks the most amazing, health conscious dinners 6 nights out of seven so we figure we’re allowed to splurge a little in our final week here.
On Sunday night I spoke with Bill and his crew from 95.9 in Boston. Talk about accents, theirs is totally cool! We spoke for ages, it was great fun.
Yesterday (Monday) started with a couple of hours in the studio with Rick and Len of Wisconsin’s Rock Station WAPL. That was kind of sad in the end. I’ve spoken to those guys every Monday morning since we arrived. Signing off and saying goodbye was the end to the only other constant we have had since being here. Regardless of what happened there was always another Packer game only 7 days away. Even with the football over there was always another Monday just around the corner. Our leaving hit home a little harder as I drove back to Green Bay from Appleton as a result.
On the way I took something like 60 photos. I don’t know when I’ll get to drive the 41 again. At least I’ll have the pictures to remind me of the times that I did.
We also did a story with the Gazette that will print tomorrow, Wednesday the 30th January. I hope you all get a chance to see it. It has very little to do with football but everything to do with the good times and experiences we have had here thanks to the people we have (and haven’t) met.
To give the boys a break from the anarchy that has become our home, we went down to the mall for a little yesterday afternoon and they totally loved it. They ran like crazies and climbed like monkeys. I have become Ben’s personal jungle gym which Kel isn’t too keen on. To me though, it’s a sign that spending all of this time with him, and Luc, has been the ultimate pay off. Having them both run over the top of me and giggle till they hiccup, is something that no corporate ladder, fancy promotion or overtime filled pay packet could ever buy.
Last night we had dinner at Fratello’s, thanks to a Christmas gift we had received (thanks Kathy) and stared in amazement of the plane, boat and train hanging from the ceiling. Ben thought it was totally incredible. He kept commenting “but that plane should be outside Mummy”. Once done there we retired home so that Ben could hit the hay and Kelly and I could retire to our sofa and armchair. I’ll explain that later.
As for this morning, it’s suitcase, laundry and “have we got everything” time. Kel has already taken a dozen boxes down to The House of Hope and I’m about to get stuck into what’s left. For some reason, despite our progress, it feels like we’ve barely even started.
I’ll get another update in as soon as I can!
(By the way, Ben is stinging to get on and play at noggin.com and Kel is about ready to throw me out the window if I don’t start helping her with the household jobs. If there are errors here that I didn’t pick up thanks to not proof reading it, pleeze acept mi aplogiese.)
Update, 8pm, Tues the 29th - Wow, there were alot of mistakes. I’m hoping I have just cleared them all up.
