Welcome to the USA!

All things remaining the same this should be the entry of Wednesday the 29th. Thanks to the International dateline though we were able to re-live Tuesday the 28th so here we are.

We departed Sydney at about 4pm Tuesday the 28th August and touched down not long before midday the same day which was great. It’s made me think of the advantages to cheating time the way we did. Say for example you did something that you knew you were going to regret. Simply jump on a plane, cross the dateline and claim to be overseas when the officer (wife/husband) asks “Where were you on the afternoon of Tuesday the 28th August 2007?” If you were here, you can’t have possibly been there right? On a lighter note though, how about this one. Christmas morning, Sydney Australia. You have breakfast with your side of the family and open presents. Christmas lunch you get to spend with your other family.....and open their presents. Then, before the wrapping paper even hits the floor, you jump on a plane, wave to Santa over the pacific and arrive in LA with just enough time to do it all over again. Cool huh?

So, I’m totally inspired by LA. I said to Kelly as we were driving through that people make things happen in this city. It’s true isn’t it? Think TV, the big screen and every single gossip mag you pick up. Heck, if it wasn’t for the surgeons in LA, would silicone implants, botox injections and liposuction even exsist? I’D HATE TO THINK PEOPLE! Speaking of which, there was no sign of Pamela Anderson, Lisa Rinna or Kirstie Alley anywhere in case any of you were wondering. Anyway, I could feel the air kisses and taste the half caff, double decafs, with a twist of lemon already. That and my desire to enjoy a yoga induced latte brunch with a fancy handbag and toy dog on a rope. She looked at me kind of funny. I tried again with “What about the people, the cars, Hollywood? You could really make a name for yourself here”..... She gave me of those funny looks that wives tend to give. I swear sometimes she thinks I’m an idiot.

Back to the story. After travelling with one of the nicest cab drivers we’ve ever had, we checked-in to our hotel and from first impressions it looked great. We had a little look around and proceeded to spend the next 18 hours doing absolutely nothing. Now, that might sound a little boring, seeing as we were in a new city, on the other side of the world, with beautiful summer temperatures and a cool sea-breeze blowing but it really was the best thing we could have done. We were tired, hungry and the boys thought night was day, which had us a little worried for the day, i mean night ahead.
