The Signs of Green Bay
Counting my lucky stars I can’t help recalling last Sunday when Tony Romo threw the pass that sent the NFC Championship game back to Titletown. If it weren’t for that, we’d, or I at the very least, would be somewhere on our way to Texas right now.
I’ve been very reflective over the last few days. How can you not when a series of events like those that unfolded this week happens with no thanks to anything you could have done to contribute? The fact that we were altogether, as busy as I was, was the most important thing that has come as a result of that loss by the Cowboys. I’m very thankful for that, even if I can’t get Ben of the computer anymore! Thanks nickjr.com.
Today we spent some time as a family down at the mall. With the weather being the way it is, -14F this morning (-26C), the only option we had for getting the boys out of the apartment was inside obviously. We played at the little playground, rode the amusement machines and destroyed toy sections as is normally the case. In the afternoon I met Bill Michaels from WTMJ620 at Lambeau Field for a chat and later in the evening I spoke with 3AW in Melbourne about our “crazy American adventure”.
We had a very nice night with Tezza and Robbo trying on clothes for tomorrow’s game that they are kindly lending me as we reminisced a little about our time here and how it has gone so quickly. I still can’t believe we flew into LA in August!
I promised a taste of the signs that decorate the streets of Green Bay in my last post and I have a whole lot of them below. For me this is just so wonderful to see. In Sydney we have so many different professional sporting teams that mass support like you see here doesn’t come very often. It’s just great.
I also wanted to do so because to date, especially the last 2 weeks, we have been contacted from more than 30 of the 50 United States and I know that this site is being hit by more than 60 countries across the world. That’s alot of fans that don’t have the luxury of driving the streets like those of us that live here do.
Also, from firsthand experience, I know that when you live you somewhere you tend to miss what surrounds you as you go about your everyday lives. I’m hoping that those of you in Green Bay that may not have seen them yet get a kick out of them too. These are from Military, Ridge and Oneida Streets only. I’m sure if I drove all over town I could probably triple the number so let’s see what I can see next week when the town is going completely bonkers:
