Thanksgiving 1/4 Morning
Happy Thanksgiving to all.
As most of you know by now I decided to stay in Green Bay today and spend Thanksgiving with my family and friends. Sure I wanted like nothing else to be at Ford Field in Detroit cheering the team on but I didn’t want the travel before and after taking our only Thanksgiving away from us. As a family, this was just too important to miss.
As such, this isn’t going to be the regular game post it would normally be each week. In fact, this post will have Thanksgiving, family, Packers football and snow all rolled into one. I’ve also split them into 1,2,3 and 4. After I wrote it seemed like you’d need a whole tea break to check it out so I figured that’d be simpler.
Our Thanksgiving celebration was hosted by Rob and Tari Meredith. We were joined by their friends Daniela, Eugene and their little boy Alex. Having accepted their offer some weeks ago we were unable to do the same for the offers we had received from Kathy and Tom Rolling here in Green Bay, Patti and Don Gotrik in Madison or the Brunner family in Milwaukee. All of whom we have become very good friends with. Thank you to all for your kind offers. It’s too bad we couldn’t stretch the holiday over 4 days.
The day started with Kelly and Tari preparing both the feast and the table whilst I was at home getting the kids ready for the big day. What alot there is to consider on a day like today. We had the cool morning air to protect ourselves from. The slippery, snow covered roads to drive a little slower on and courtesy of the occasion we needed toys, sleeping bags an PJ’s for the boys just in case it got too much for them.
Oh yeah and I had to get my Packers gear ready. There was a game being played after all. Just on that for a moment. Whose big idea was it to plan a National holiday on the day of Packer game? Probably someone from Chicago I reckon.....
Anyway, the snow had fallen like nothing else on this trip so far. Sure by Wisconsin standards it was merely a dusting but as the days go on we are seeing more and more of it each time. This morning there was a coating of white still left after the sun had come up. This was totally cool to see.
The boys and I arrived at Rob and Tari’s just before 11. We had enough time to empty the truck, say our hello’s, check out the decorations and start playing with toys. That was them at least. I had just enough time to pick up a plate of snacks and get downstairs to my recliner where I would stay for the next 3 hours and watch Brett “carve up” the Lions. (Ha, how’s that for a Thanksgiving pun?)
