One Week To Go
Kelly and I set out early again this morning to get a list of some 35 things done. We succeeded on about half of them which I must say was a whole lot better than I expected.
Again, per yesterday, it was getting the little things done that really counted the most. Photocopying, printing, canceling, suspending, transferring, re-directing, direct debiting etc. All of the things you don’t normally think of because they are a part of your everyday life.
We also began the search for in-flight entertainment. That is, to entertain a 2 year old and a 9 month old across 30 odd flights, 20,000 miles and 5 months of some of the coldest weather we are ever likely to experience in a country that, whilst somewhat familiar and even a little similar, remains foreign with regards to our actual living experience. In the end, we did a good job securing most of what we needed.
So far as how we’re feeling with only one week to go, I can say that despite this being one of the craziest things we are ever going to do in our lives the time for pondering is limited. We can’t stop thinking about the trip but we don’t have the time between preparations and looking after the boys to let our minds wander too far. We’re certainly looking forward to getting to Green Bay and settling in but at this point we have no other option than to take it one day at a time. So long as the boys are occupied we have the chance to do that.
