Long Trip Home

Just a quicky to explain the day as you will have seen it in the vid if you’ve watched it already.

The day started at 5:30am with the hopes of being home by lunch time. With the mechanical delays in Denver - oh nothing serious by the way, only one of the engines - it didn’t start out very promising. I tried desperately to get a great pic of the airoprt at dusk but because of the poor lightning I couldn’t. Please enjoy this one from Denver Metro Convention and Visitor’s Bureau as shown on www.denver.org. Photographer, Chris Carter.

The most frustrating part of the delay, aside from not getting home when I was expecting to, was the fact that all day yesterday it was so hazy you couldn’t see a mountain for a mole-hill. It was so hazy in fact, if you didn’t know the city was framed by mountains you could have been forgiven for not knowing they were there at all.

What do think happened this morning though? We drove to the airport in the dark. I got to the terminal in the dark and onto the plane as the sun was coming up. After finding my seat, sorting my things out and getting ready to go back to sleep I look out the window and there they bloody well were. Mountains on top of mountains looking spectacular in the distance, glowing in the morning light. Lucky for me I had my camera and was able to take such a terrific (yeah right) shot of them.

Could you imagine being in a place like Denver and having only this to remind you of how pretty this city can actually be?

Anyway, thanks to the delays I got back to Chicago after my connection to Green Bay had already left. This left me booked on a flight 7 hours later but standing by on a flight at 3pm. I had some lunch at a Bar and Grill, used my computer to settle a dispute between two of the workers there (did OJ ever play for the 49ers) and typed away for the rest of the time. Though I was exhausted, and didn’t feel at all like writing at the expense of sleeping I was conscious that once I was homeI’d have to go computer free for at least the next day or so.

I was lucky enough to get on the stand by flight to make it home in time for dinner and see the boys before they were off to the land of nod. Add more about seeing Lambeau Field on the way in and the fact that Kelly wasn’t happy….kqwejhg wkjh wjvh wkvh wvh wkjvh wkvjh wkjhbv wkjbh wkfjhvb wkjbh wkjbh fjkbh sfkjhb sfkjbh fwkjbh fwkbh wkbh wbh wfhb kfjwhb kjwfhb kwhb kjwfb kwfbg jkwfg bwkgb wfgb ;iwfgb uiwgb owugb owr;gh ourwbh ouerwb owrgb o;rwgb ow;rb howubh ouhb ufhb ;foubh o;bhu wobuh wouhb ouwhb wufhb ;owbhow;bg w;obg ;bg wbg;.

We’re all looking very forward to Halloween by the way. It’s our first and we can’t wait to see what all the fuss is about.

By the way, I thought the front page of The Rocky Mountain News was something for all Packer fans to behold. “Best by Favre”. You bet.....
