Kettle of Fish, NYC

A catch-up post from January 12th, 2020 when I was in New York City for two nights. It happened to coincide with the Packers playoff game against Seattle at Lambeau Field.

Being that I couldn’t be there, or home to watch it, I had to do the next best thing… find a Packers bar to watch it at. A quick call in to my two favorite New York City Packers fans, Aaron and Corey from CheeseheadTV and The Kettle of Fish it was.

I didn’t anticipate how unbelievably packed it was going to be so I turned up right in time for kick-off, to learn that the bar had reached it maximum occupancy.

With a little smooth talking, think very heavy Paul Hogan, “that’s not a knife this is a knife” exaggeration - and somebody leaving just at the right time, I was able to get in and enjoy the party. A Packers win, 28-23 made it all the more memorable.

Back in the day I used to say, quite a lot in fact, that following a team like this made the experience about so much more than just football. I was otherwise alone in New York City for the evening, until I found myself a place with more than a hundred new people that were all there for the same reason I was.

If Liverpool Football club in the English Premier League wasn't already using it I’d say that as a Packers fan, you never walk alone.
